Maybe You’re Crazy

Let’s face it. We’re set in our ways. Theres a comfort zone that all businesses fall into. Doing the same type of work or working with the same type of clients. It’s better to stick with what you know right?

For those who find themselves stuck, not progressing, maybe feeling like a hamster in a wheel, it’s time to disrupt the norm.

There’s several sayings about this:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

I heard this said by my Weight Watchers Instructor Tony,  many years ago. Not the most elegant grammar, but you get the point. This has always stuck with me. Every time I’ve gone back to my old eating habits, I’ve put more chunk in my funk, so I truly believe this.

Here’s another quote that’s been attributed to many different people:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Well I don’t think anyone wants to be deemed insane. The problem is that it’s just easier to do the same thing. Change is hard, and expensive. You could fail miserably. Implementing new procedures or changing policies cost time and money. Trying new forms of marketing, are often painfully difficult to begin and costly at that.

But what about the cost of the alternative?
What’s the cost of inaction, to simply do nothing at all?

Well that’s just crazy talk.

So true Tommy. My favorite quote related to this is “Everything you want is outside your comfort zone. You have to be comfortable being uncomfortable.” Great blog!
